Kokanee Valley Race Series: GS

No experience is required for this fun recreational racing event. Great fun for you and your friends, this racing series is held every Thursday throughout the Whistler snow season. Open to skiers, telemarkers and snowboarders, the races are recorded on video and then played back at the Kokanee awards party. Everyone has a chance to win some great prizes.

King of the Rail presented by Showcase

January 5, 2013
The King of the Rail is a series of rail jam contests running on select evenings. The competitions are held at the base of Whistler Mountain, next to the Fitzsimmons Chair at 7 PM. There are separate categories for snowboarders and skiers, males and females, and adults and youth. Category winners will receive a percentage of the cash entry fees, plus all participants have a chance to win fantastic draw prizes from Showcase, Burton, Atomic, Nintendo, TELUS, DNA and more. Park Rider Ski and Snowboard Sessions

Park Rider Sessions are rail, half-pipe, and slope-style competitions. It’s open to skiers and snowboarders alike of all ages. Because these events often sell out, pre-registration is recommended. There are several locations to register including the Carleton Lodge.

Fire and Ice Show

This very popular FREE show features world-class athletes flipping, twisting, and performing other tricks through a burning ring of fire. The show finishes off with a top-notch fireworks display. The Fire and Ice. The Fire and Ice Show starts at 6:30 PM every Sunday from December 16 to March 31. The show is held in The Skier’s Plaza at the base of Whistler Mountain – right outside your Carleton Lodge Accommodation.

North Face Park and Pipe Open

The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series (PPOS) is a free-skiing tour featuring slope style, half-pipe, big air, and rail jam skiing competitions. There is $55,000 worth of prizes up for grabs. Amateurs and pros alike can compete.

Performance Series Presents: Montreal Guitar Trio

When it comes to bridging diverse genres of music, the Montreal Guitar Trio, which CBC described as “the hottest guitar ensemble in Canada,” has quickly established itself as a force to be reckoned with. For more than 14 years, the trio’s virtuosity, rigor, creativity, and dynamic stage presence have been winning applause around the world. Winner of the 2011 Opus Prize for concert of the year in the Jazz / World Music category, the trio have given hundreds of concerts in prestigious venues around the world. Show starts at 8 PM at Millennium Place. Tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for students and seniors and $21 for WAC members and can be purchased at Millennium Place or online.

Deep Winter Photo Challenge

Whistler Blackcomb’s famous ‘Deep Winter’ photo contest takes place in the heart of the winter season. The photo challenge highlights the annual winter storms that make Whistler the best ski resort in North America. Pro ski and snowboard photographers battle it out in the Photo Challenge, which features slideshows of images captured over three days on Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.

TELUS Winter Classic

January 25 – 26, 2013
The TELUS Winter Classic is Whistler Blackcomb Foundation’s biggest fundraising event of the season. Master’s and Recreational Races

Master’s and Recreational Races are geared towards both the recreational and experienced/competitive racer. No special membership or affiliation is required to participate. Masters Racing license only required if you are collecting national rank points. Register in person prior to the event day at any Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations or Ski & Snowboard School Sales locations.
