SKI Magazine names Whistler Blackcomb. North America’s No. 1 Rated Resort!

The 27th annual SKI Magazine Reader’s Poll has named Whistler Blackcomb the No. 1 overall best ski resort in North America.

The online survey saw 41,000 resort rankings submitted by SKI Magazine readers and ranks the top 50 North American ski resorts in a variety of categories valued by ski and snowboard enthusiasts. In addition to being voted No. 1 in overall ranking, Whistler Blackcomb also received top marks in the terrain variety, off-hill activity and après categories, solidifying the resort truly has something to offer everyone.

Whistler Enjoys Epic Snowfall in February 2014

While some people hunker down in their living rooms eagerly awaiting the arrival of spring’s warmer weather, those of us who love to ski and snowboard want nothing more than even more snow. In true Whistler / Blackcomb fashion, Mother Nature has delivered in fine form in the month of February 2014.

As of February 21, we have received no less than 3.5 feet or 109 cm of fresh, clean snow. Needless to say, this makes for some excellent ski and snowboard conditions and some very excited outdoor adventurers. In the words of local snowboarder Teryn… “Whistler is freaking awesome right now!” We can’t help but echo that sentiment.

For the past 21 years Whistler has played host to annual Whistler Cup and some of he finest juvenile ski racers in the world. 176 of those young racers have gone on to compete in the Olympics. The competition is fierce, the talent is outstanding, and future Olympians are honing their racing skills at the world class Whistler ski resort.

Yeti Snowshoe Series

The Yeti Snowshoe Series is an exciting snowshoe course for people of all skill levels from beginner through advanced. Held at the Whistler Olympic Park, the Yeti offers a 6 KM sport lap and 12 KM Enduro course. The courses take you over flat, undulating cat-track, double track and single track.

Exciting News! Whistler Blackcomb is Getting New Chairlifts in 2013!

Whistler / Blackcomb will see major changes for the beginning of the 2013-2014 ski season. The changes include lift expansions. The expansions include a new high-speed six-pack chairlift, and a new high-speed quad chairlift.

Whistler Mountain’s Harmony high-speed quad lift will be replaced by a new Doppelmayr high-speed, detachable six-pack chairlift. The new lift will be capable of carrying 6 people on each chair.

44th Luge World Championships

February 1-2, 2013
Join Canada’s top luge athletes for the 44th World Championships in Whistler. Doubles and Men’s Singles race are on Friday night. Women’s and team relay events are on Saturday. The Sliding Centre will feature entertainment, local food vendors, beer gardens and fireworks nightly. Opening Ceremonies to be held in Whistler Village Square on January 30th.

Kokanee Valley Race Series: Season Opener GS

December 13, 2012
No experience is required for this fun recreational racing event. Great fun for you and your friends, this racing series is held every Thursday throughout the Whistler snow season. Open to skiers, telemarkers and snowboarders, the races are recorded on video and then played back at the Kokanee awards party. Everyone has a chance to win some great prizes.
